We’ll send you updates on this idea

    Dear Forms customers,

Thanks for your patience for the long wait on file upload.

File upload v1 – for internal survey, has been enabled on full production. It would be great if you could provide feedback for us. This survey may take you about 3 minutes to finish.
    https://aka.ms/fileuploadfeedback

We are working with SharePoint team to enable file upload v2 – for external survey, we will reach out your soon for more feedback.

    Thank you for your time!

Without outside access on this feature it is pointless.

The whole point of file upload is to gather information from external sources.

Sure if you are a large company you may have some use for it, but most organisations are not.

Pretty disappointed that we had to wait this long for this feature only to find the main requirement is not allowed or available. So I won't be promoting its use.

Don't go making this a premium forms pro feature either as it won't stop my customers using free alternatives.

Simply put at the SharePoint conference they announced it will be out in the Summer so next couple months..however the thing to be aware of is this will be internally attached uploads only for now.

So if you are looking for people to attach docs to anonymous forms you will have to wait a bit longer.

    Other things not mentioned are

Will there be size limits? And no 10mb will not suffice.

How many files you can upload?

Where do files uploaded get saved? ( SharePoint/ Onedrive/Office groups)

Can we upload from more than one question? E.g. Q1 upload one document. Q5 upload a different document?

Will we be able to route files via flow?

As sometime docs do not necessarily go to the same places nor should they as some info is confidential to different teams.

    All things that need

Great to know you are working on it. I look forward to the updates.

I have several small projects where business users need me to create forms and changes in Sharepoint when a Microsoft form would do the job quicker and easier. The reason we have to use Sharepoint is because they need people to attach files to their forms. It also means managing identities for these people, due to own security policies for people to access Sharepoint.

    Thanks

Upload to onedrive for business or a Sharepoint site would be awesome.
As other have mentioned this is now offered by Google Forms. So the pressure is on.

Thhink with that is that some question types do not work for printing. You have to remove thenter date or text from boxes, any drop downs need to be expanded. Long text answers how long do you give on the form.

For this what I have found works is to take a copy of the form then edit out the pieces and change the question boxes to ones that could be printable.

    Remove all branching.

Then find a browser extension that will clip the entire page to PDF.

Its a bit of work but does the job to a certain extent. Also you don't lose the context of the form. You could put things in sections and piece it together as well I suppose.

What amazes me is the whole idea of electronic forms is to get away from paper!
Also paper use invalidates the results.

If you need offline surveys to be filled in look at Kaizala as it has survey functionality that works off a mobile device and works offline / low bandwidth.

I agree printing is not a good thing. However for some places and people in the world technology is not always prevalent and connectivity unreliable. So for those situations you can understand the requirement.

There is an alternative in those situations. Look at using Kaizala. It is like WhatsApp and is free to use. It has surveys in it that can be used offline.

Event that does not replace having a printing capability.

In some cases you need to be able to print a form and have it filled out by someone offline.
then have someone verify and enter it

If you want offline forms go look at Kaizala. It is free in your tenant and has those capabilities to work offline in the field.Look at the survey functionality. It also has a lot more besides and works like whatsapp.

It will eventually integrate with teams dding this functionality in there for a full end to end experience.

Having a mobile app where you can save the forms to fill in multiple forms for data collection and then sync back responses when online.

This would resolve a lot of problems where my customer works in various situations where there is no network. Working in many countries across the world to improve health. They can create and collate essential data and save hours of collation. They do not need application type functionality of Powerapps to do this.

Sometimes we need people to collect data on the go. Fill in the form as they go and submit when they get internet access back.

Teams now has integration with forms. Does it do what you need?
